What to Expect at your Appointment
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment to complete a simple form, ready for your appointment.
The Initial Appointment (45 minutes)
1st Stage
We will ask you lots of questions about your current injury or concern, further questions about any previous aches/pains and your past medical history. We need to understand your pain, how it affects your daily life and gain clarity about the goals you'd like to achieve.
2nd Stage
With your permission, there will be a physical examination where you will be asked to do various movements and we will conduct hands on tests to help ascertain a clear clinical diagnosis.
3rd Stage
We can then discuss our clinical impression with you, explain the treatment options, give an indication of how much treatment will be needed over what time period and develop shared realistic treatment goals. It is really important to us that you fully understand the diagnosis and the reasons for your treatment, so we actively encourage questions throughout all stages.
4th Stage
We will then commence your Physiotherapy treatment. This is often 'hands on', and it is likely that we will also provide you with additional exercises to aid your recovery and long-term outcome.
Follow up appointments (30 minutes).
We will review your progress and continue with your physiotherapy treatment to help you achieve your goals.
We would ask that you wear sensible footwear and loose clothing. Please bring shorts if you have a spinal or lower limb problem as this will help us assess you more thoroughly.
